Watertown Farmers' Market 2023

Being apart of the Watertown Farmers' Market last summer, 2023, was an absolute delight. I've always loved markets, and while they intimidate my social comfort zone, I day dreamed of participating.

My heart was touched by my friends that came to visit and delighted by all the new friends I made among vendors, staff, and visitors. Thank you to all those who made me feel so welcome.

My favorite moments were talking flavors with folks gathered around the sampling jars, wandering over to chat with a neighbor vendor, and occasionally when a previous visitor rushed back, with a friend in tow. When people ask about the experience, I love telling them about Amy who makes her own chocolate (and her right-hand man, Mark, who won't let you rush by without a taste), Jimmy who brings the salmon, Frank the bagel guy, Stephanie and Carabeth who let me borrow their extra canopy, and the woman who came back month after month to turn in her clean jars in exchange for new flavors.

My dad recently shared with me a little anecdote about life- that it's not about the journey or the destination, but rather the company. I believe there is beauty in the journey and the destination, but I've also come to appreciate that both are given meaning because of the people along the way.

In all honesty, I have to give myself a pep talk and several deep breaths before every market and pop-up. Being socially assertive really frightens me. So I can't thank you all enough for making it such a good experience. Can't wait to see you again in just a few short months!

Warmest wishes,

Hanna Belle
